📰 Highlights
🥸 If you’re in Ontario - check your mail! Ontario premier has issued $200 cheques to every Ontarian. Coincidentally, he called for an early Ontario election. If that’s not an attempt to buy election, we don’t know what is.
Our take: traditionally, provincial elections results counterbalance the federal ones. If Liberals are in power, then provinces tend to prefer non-liberal leadership and vice versa. With the looming federal elections on the horizon this year, Doug Ford hopes to secure a win, while he still can.
👵 Bringing grandma to Canada just got easier! Canada now allows Super Visa applicants to get health insurance from outside Canada, making it cheaper and more accessible for parents and grandparents to visit for up to five years per stay.
⚜️ Quebec has introduced a bill requiring newcomers to learn French within six months of arrival, or they will lose access to most public services in any other language. This move aims to strengthen the province’s French language laws and ensure the integration of immigrants into Quebec’s francophone culture.

International student cap allocations unveiled.
The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will open on March 31, 2025.
🥳What you may have missed
🛠️ Amazon has announced shutting down warehouse operations in Quebec - 1,700 workers are set to lose their jobs. Some say Amazon didn’t like Quebec’s newly formed worker union.
📱 Toronto saw it’s record year in tourism revenue last year. Is it because of Taylor Swift or immigration cuts?
🕹️ Games industry grew by 3% contributing to over $50B to the Canadian economy. Workers in the gaming industry saw some of the sharpest salary increases in the last 3 years - an impressive 20%
Our take: there are at least 239 jobs in gaming open around Canada. There’s probably more if you know where to look. Stay tuned!
🏦 Bank of Canada cut interest rates by another 0.25%. The interest rates are falling, but home buyers are not rushing to buy still.
🧑🎓 Get your career funded by Canada
Did you know that all levels of Canadian government provide numerous opportunities to help you learn new skills to improve your job prospects? Here are a few things for you to look into:
👉️ Federal & Provincially funded training programs
Each province has grants and training programs for in-demand fields and up to $25,000 costs covered. The level of support differs province by province.
❗️ You can view programs offered by your province by going on the provincial website.
Example: Better Jobs (Ontario)
👉️ Take advantage of Government grants and credits
Both provincial and federal government offer tax credits and grants to help job seekers up-skill and find a new job. Some specific grants require you to be employed - you’d have to work with your manager to apply to the grants through your employer.
👉️ Leverage Government-Funded mentorship & networking
There are Government programs that connect job seekers with industry mentors and employers, and even help you found your company. Mentorship and networking opportunities are offered to different types of job seekers: from youth, to career transitions, to seniors.
Examples: Canada Job Training initiatives
👉️ Leverage government jobs-based training programs
Government departments, from 911 dispatch and coast guard, to research and internships, there are plenty of government-run training programs designed to help you launch your career within the government.
