🎯 Your Weekend Hiring Prep Checklist
1. Update Your LinkedIn (20 mins)
When was the last time you actually looked at your LinkedIn profile? If it's been more than 3 months, it's time for a refresh.
What to do:
Update your headline – Ditch the generic job title. Try: "Marketing Professional | Helping B2B Companies Scale | Content Strategy & Analytics" instead of just "Marketing Manager"
Pro tip: for the right recruiter and hiring manager, this grabs just the attention you need.
Refresh your About section – Make it conversational, not a resume copy-paste. Tell your story in first person and focus on where you aspire to be
Add recent wins – Do you have your biggest projects or accomplishments from the last 6 months? Add them in!
Turn on a stealth "Open to Work" mode – You can make it visible only to recruiters if you're currently employed
Engage with 3 posts – Comment thoughtfully on posts from folks that are above your role. Visibility = opportunities
Pro tip: Recruiters are already planning their 2026 budgets and headcount - and some are already hiring. Being active NOW means you're visible when roles open up in January.
2. Take ONE Free Course (45 minutes to get started)
You don't need to complete a whole course this weekend—just START one. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs report shows these are the skills employers want most in 2026:
Pick ONE to start this weekend:
🧠 Critical Thinking – Harvard's Introduction to Critical Thinking
Why it matters: AI can process data, but humans make strategic decisions
🤖 AI & Data – Harvard's Data Science and Machine Learning
Why it matters: You need to work alongside AI, not compete with it
💻 Tech Literacy – Google Digital Garage
Why it matters: Digital fluency is baseline now
💡 Creative Thinking – Imperial College's Creative Thinking
Why it matters: AI can optimize, but humans innovate
🌱 Resilience & Agility – Harvard's Resilient Leadership
Why it matters: The only constant is change—adaptability is essential

3. Audit Your Resume for AI (15 minutes)
If you’re not ready for a career sprint - try scanning your resume with AI - to catch the most critical mistakes.
Quick audit checklist:
✅ Does your resume include keywords from job descriptions you want?
✅ Have you quantified your achievements? (Increased sales by 30%, managed team of 5, reduced costs by $50K)
✅ Is it saved as a .docx or PDF with text (not an image)?
✅ Does it have clear section headers? (Work Experience, Education, Skills)
✅ Have you removed tables, text boxes, and fancy formatting that confuses ATS?
