📈 Canadian Hiring Trends for 2025
We’ve reviewed several recent recruitment and hiring trends reports - here are the insights on hiring intentions among Canadian companies:
50% of businesses plan to increase their workforce in the coming months.
40% of companies expect to maintain current staffing levels.
only 10% anticipate decreasing their workforce.
51% of hiring managers say that AI and automation skills are now in high demand, yet only 30% of workers list AI in their skills
46% of employers state they have an inefficient hiring processes
42% of recruiters state it’s hard to find a suitable candidate
⚠️ If you’re looking for a new job this year, here’s what this means for you:
More opportunities than in 2024: With half of the companies looking to hire, now is an opportune time to explore new positions.
Don’t be a needle in a haystack: Despite the optimistic outlook, recruiters are inefficient and overworked, struggling to find the right candidates. Standing out with a strong resume, that makes it clear what you can do and developing your interview skills will make their job easier, and will increase your chances as a result.
Learn AI, Automation, and No/Low Code solutions: at least 50% of Canadian companies are working on implementing AI in their workflow. While now AI helps you stand out, it will become a mandatory skill soon. Invest in learning AI now.

🎯 What you need to know if Trump follows through with Tariffs. Spoiler alert: things will get more expensive. Provincial PM’s are responding:
Ontario’s Premier Doug Ford has threatened to cut off energy exports and pull American alcohol from LCBO shelves; Alberta’s Danielle Smith tries to buddy up with Trump and make her own deal. Meanwhile, B.C.’s David Eby advocates for a unified “Team Canada” approach, and Quebec’s François Legault warns the tariffs could backfire on the U.S. economy, since QC supplies 64% of US aluminum.
🧑🎓 The dominoes are falling. Centennial College had to shut down nearly 50 programs because of the international student cuts. At least it’s working! Rent in Canada is at a 17 month low!
🎖️ Mike Carney, Chrystia Freeland, Karina Gould, Frank Baylis, Chandra Arya have confirmed their bid for Liberal party leadership. Selecting the leader of the Conservative Party or the NDP is unfortunately not possible - not unless the party topples their own leader.
💼 Immigration Canada is cutting 20% of their workforce. Expect processing delays and a growing application backlog.
🔨 Stricter rules are coming for immigration consultants. Up to $1.5M fines, heavier regulation will be imposed to fight immigration fraud. A fund to compensate victims will also be established.
