Weekly insights to help you excel and thrive in Canada 🇨🇦
Hey guys, every year The C100 (a network of Canadian tech leaders) announces which startups are about to explode. We treat it as a cheat sheet for "where will the coolest jobs be in 2-3 years?"
This year's list just dropped, and it's stacked: AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, clean energy, fintech, health tech. These are the companies considered to be the future of Canada - raising tens of millions, hiring aggressively, and building the tools every other company will need.
Where startups go, jobs go too. So, naturally, we want to highlight 20 of Canada's fastest-growing companies that just got a massive spotlight.
💰 Where the venture money is flowing
The sectors dominating this year's list: AI infrastructure (not apps, the actual plumbing), cybersecurity, clean energy, fintech, and health tech. These are the sectors that will be hiring the most over the next 3 years.
📊 Startups = job multipliers
Every job created at a startup creates 4-5 more around it (suppliers, service providers, hires at companies that adopt their tech). 48 startups × average 50 employees each = 2,400 direct jobs + 10,000+ indirect. That's your opportunity.

🎯 How to Pick Which Sector to Bet Your Career On
Look for the "Infrastructure Plays"
What this means: Companies building the tools that OTHER companies need to survive.
Why it matters: Apps come and go. Infrastructure stays. If a startup is building something every other company will eventually need (security, AI optimization, payment rails, clean energy), that's a long-term bet.
Career move: If you want job security, follow infrastructure. These companies will outlast the hype cycles.
Apply to Startups BEFORE They're Famous
The C100 list is your early-access pass.
Most people wait until a startup is in the news to apply. By then, competition is brutal and hiring slows. Right now, these 48 companies are in growth mode—hiring fast, often willing to take a chance on someone who's hungry and can learn quickly.
How to apply strategically:
Pick 5 companies from the C100 list that match your skills + interests
Find them on LinkedIn and see who's already working there
Message 2-3 employees (not recruiters) and ask: "What's it like working there? What skills are you looking for?"
Apply directly + mention the C100 in your cover letter ("I saw [Company] was named a C100 Fellow and wanted to reach out...")
Follow up after 1 week if no response
Why this works: Startups value hustle and curiosity more than perfect resumes. Showing you did research = massive advantage.
