📰 Highlights

🥸 Tariffs is all we’ve been hearing about for the last 10 days. Ever since Trump slapped 25% tariff on steel and aluminum, Canada retaliated heavily:

  • Majority of provinces responded by threatening to pull American liquor from the shelves, as well as banning American companies from contract bids.

  • This lasted until the end of the weekend, at which points, the leaders of US and Canada finally met and sorted things out by committing to stronger border defense measures.

What this means for us:

  • American alcohol, orange juice and peanut butter will get more expensive or hard to find

  • American appliances and furniture will get more expensive

  • Car prices are projected to increase by an average of $3,000

  • American sports equipment and cosmetics prices will increase

🇨🇦 Immigration updates:

🥳How to avoid tariffs

Let’s be real: just because tariffs were delayed doesn’t mean they’re off the table—or that they won’t hit our wallets eventually.

The best way to protect yourself from rising costs? Shop Canadian. Skip the overpriced, tariff-heavy imports (let’s be honest, some of that produce is tasteless anyway) and support local farmers and businesses instead.

We tested this out over the weekend by swapping out our usual grocery list for Canadian-made alternatives—and it was easier (and more rewarding) than we expected!

Just for you, we’ve put together a list of amazing Canadian companies that create, build, and produce everything you need.
